SEAPEX COUNCIL NOMINATIONS

The time of year has come for SEAPEX to elect the Council Members for the year 2010 - 2011.  As such, we invite you to nominate fellow SEAPEX members or yourself for the election.  If you have not yet submitted your nominations, please complete the following Nomination Form and return by email to judy.foong@seapex.org before 1 August 2010.

Note: Councilors are voted in for a two-year period.  Councilors Jean-Yves Beninger and John Whitcomb have completed their second year.  There are therefore two Councilor positions available.  The two condidates with the highest number of votes will be elected as Councilor for a two-year term.

DISCRETIONARY SPENDING REPORT

Every year SEAPEX allocates a portion of its budget for Discretionary Spending to support educational, philanthropic and other causes and activities that advance the objectives of our society.  As part of the recent membership survey it was discovered that many of you would like to have more information about the amount and application of SEAPEX's discretionary spending.

As a result, the Council has agreed that a Discretionary Spending Report will be added to the member's section of the website and will be updated quarterly. The current report can be accessed via the SEAPEX website. In addition, a separate Discretionary Spending summary will be presented at the AGM and members will be asked to submit ideas for deserving causes and activities for the upcoming year.  If you have any questions about SEAPEX's Discretionary Spending, please contact Bill Lafferrandre (bill.g.lafferrandre@conocophillips.com)

SEAPEX EXPLORATION CONFERENCE 2011

The next bi-annual SEAPEX Exploration Conference (SEC) will be held from Monday 4th April to Thursday 7th April 2011.

For the sixth time, the conference will be a stand-alone event.  The conference will highlight the upstream / new ventures activities and opportunities in the Asia Pacific region.  The conference will end at 15:00 hrs on Thursday 7th April to allow for the Singapore Scout Check Meeting to be held in the afternoon.

There will be the usual SEAPEX Golf Tournament on Friday 8th April and the SEAPEX Tennis Tournament will be on Monday 4th April.

The venue is the same as the last five conferences: SEAPEX has contracted the entire conference center at the Orchard Hotel in Singapore, a location well known to SEAPEX members and Scout Check attendees. The talks and farmout presentations will be divided into geographic areas and will feature keynote speakers and industry experts talking on a wide variety of interesting topics.

The SEAPEX Exploration Conference in 2009 was highly successful, attracting 650 delegates from around the region. The 2011 SEAPEX Conference Committee will seek support from potential speakers and sponsors to reach its goal of making this conference the premier petroleum upstream event in South East Asia.

For further details please contact Jean-Yves Beninger, Conference Chairman, email jybeninger@southernsi.com, or Jeff Lobao, Technical Program Director, email jeffrey.lobao@lundin.sg.

TRAINING, EDUCATION & CAREER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

SEAPEX receives enquiries and requests for assistance from students interested in internships with regional E&P and service companies. As part of SEAPEX’s Training, Education & Career Development Program, we would like to compile a list of companies prepared to receive internship applications, which we could then forward to interested students for them to contact the companies directly. If your company is happy to participate in this scheme, please email Judy Foong (judy.foong@seapex.org) the name and contact details of the relevant person in your organisation.

Comments and suggestions on refinement/modification would be welcomed.

In order for SEAPEX to provide the right education and development content for members, we need to know what you need, so please provide feedback on the topics, duration and location of courses you think SEAPEX should provide. Kindly submit your feedback to Judy Foong (judy.foong@seapex.org).
