Company : MPRL E N P Pte Ltd
Contact : Ko
Name : Offshore Block A-6
Location : Rakhine Offshore, Myanmar
Description : Block A-6 is an undrilled offshore Bay of Bengal tract covering more than 9,800 km2 in water depths between shore and 2,500 m. The block straddles two HC proven geological provinces in the shelf and in deep waters. MPRL expanded its interest in the Myanmar petroleum scene by acquiring the rights to exploration and production in the block. The area is known not only for the Shwe Gas Field successes of Daewoo, but also for its spectacular mud volcanoes on the Ramree and Cheduba Islands, approximately 120 km north of A‐6, which occasionally erupt in a burst of flames comprising mud, oil and gas. Shallow oil seepages in the same area have been exploited by hand‐dug wells, to the tune of some 100 bopd, since at least the 1920s.
